Our Approach: Tailored Support Built on Real-World Experience
We are currently working with several NHS Trusts on data engineering and analytics projects that are helping them move to modern, cloud-based tools like Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. The journey for each trust varies, depending on their current state and internal capabilities. We work with each trust to develop an appropriate program of assistance based on their individual requirements. Bringing together our collective experience of processing and analysing large datasets in regulated sectors like civil aviation, in order to support better data and decision making in the healthcare arena.
Key Focus Areas
When dealing with an organisations data, it is key to understand the nature of that data and act appropriately for the various classification types. This is even more important in regulated and clinical organisations where adherence to strict data policies is required at all times.
With this in mind we are:
Designing secure, scalable and auditable data platforms that can grow with the needs of the individual trust. By implementing policy based security measures and modern cloud tooling such as Purview, the system is then able to scale without an increase in the manual process.
Establishing robust best practices, design principles, and governance frameworks to
manage data in the cloud—ensuring full alignment with GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and NHS Caldicott Principles.
Supporting analytics and reporting with Power BI, so that insights are easier to access and share, thus enabling self-service access to safe, trusted and anonymised datasets.
Carrying out a feasibility study on migrating data to a modern cloud data platform, looking at security, performance, scalability, and how to enable future capabilities like AI and Machine Learning.
Why This Work Matters
In order, to deliver better services to the public, the NHS is under constant pressure to modernise and become more efficient. Data analysis allows the client to gain insights into potential issues and current performance KPI’s. However, when it comes to patient data, the implications of every step must be carefully considered and the impacts fully understood.
F-TEK are assisting the NHS teams to navigate that complexity, building on what we've learned in other regulated spaces like civil aviation, where we've delivered similar large data platforms and analytics solutions in conjunction with our extensive knowledge and understanding of Azure cloud services.
What’s Next
This post highlights what F-TEK doing right now. Over the next few months, we’ll be in a good place to share more detailed case studies as results come through. For now, it's exciting to be part of this work and to see the early impact it's having.
